Just recently, we opened up a Q&A in our Instagram Stories about piano lessons — and you brought up such valuable topics!

Today, I’m sharing one of the most common questions "Are There Any Tricks to Motivate My Young Child to Practice Piano at Home? ", along with a helpful tip you can use right away.

💛 Avoid saying “Go practice!” Instead, try:

“Can you teach me something you learned today?” or “Can you play something for me?”

These phrases make practice feel more like sharing, not a chore.

🎶 Encourage mini-performances at home — Ask your child to play for friends, siblings, teammates, or even stuffed animals!

⭐ Use incentives like stickers, practice charts, or small rewards — these can help keep young students engaged and excited

⏱️ Instead of setting a timer for younger kids, say “Let’s play each piece three times,” and help them read through the teacher’s notes and assignments.

🗓️Consider increasing lesson frequency — Instead of  one session a week, try two 30-minute or 45-minute lessons. More frequent lessons give kids structure, momentum, and regular encouragement
